Chapter 1
(incomplete)
“Go and clean the kitchen, now or you’ll have no supper!” said my dearest,
sweetest, lovable stepmother. Yeah right and I am the Queen of France. O.k.
let’s get to reality. My stepmother would rather make me get out of the house
than be her maid. It doesn’t matter that I will not have any dinner because
who cooks the meals? Me. Who cleans the house? Me. Who is the maid here? Me. I
could walk away and it would be them with no supper, but I can’t. I would
starve, freeze, and, lonely.
“Get me my sewing kit now!” Said my stepsister Anastasia.
“ I don’t think so. Cinderella will get mine first, because I am more important that you.” Said my other stepsister Drazzella.
“ No! Cinderella get mine or I’ll tell Mamma and you’ll be in big
“ Big Deal. You always try to get me in trouble and it works.” I thought.
“ Get mine!” Said Drazzella.
“ NO! Mine!” Said Anastasia. They stared to fight and I went away to the
kitchen and started to sweep the kitchen.
As I swept I thought about the history of my life. My mother had died
when I was very small and my papa thought that I needed a woman’s care. He
remarried but soon after he died. (I’ll bet Stepmother had some part in that.)
And she mad ME the family maid and cook, and called me Cinderella and
I, Ella (A.K.A. Cinderella the maid) will tell my story to you.
There came a day in our small land that the prince, who’s mother wished him to
marry, was to hold a ball for every young lady in all the land. My stepmother
was determined that one of her daughters was going to be the next Queen and of
course Anastasia was sure it would be her and Drazzella thought it would
Maybe Stepmother would let me go! Oh! But I’ll need a dress, not what I
Oh goodness no! I went up to the attic where I slept and looked though my mother’s stuff. I went up to a dusty old trunk and found only hats. Then I went in to another trunk and found skirts and shirts but at the bottom was the loveliest dress’s I’d ever seen. It was even better than my stepsisters. I was a light blue with some sapphires in it and was covered in lace and the shoes had sapphires with diamonds in it too!
“ Ah I see you found the gift I gave your mother when she was your age.”
Said a soft voice. I whirled around.
“ What!?” I said.
“You will act like the ball is no importance to you and then when they leave
you stay here and I will come to you again.” She said.
“Cinderella! Where is our tea?!” Yelled Stepmother. I made a face at the
door then turned around but my fairy godmother was gone. When I got down I
decided I would go.
